Development Associate, Episcopal Charities of the Diocese of New York
- Position Overview: Episcopal Charities provides funding and support to a broad range of community-based human service programs throughout the Diocese of New York. These programs, sponsored by Episcopal congregations, serve disadvantaged individuals, youth and families on a non-sectarian bases.
Episcopal Charities raises funds from individual donors, parishes, foundations, and corporations. With a small administrative staff and an actively engaged board of directors, who, with the Diocese provide significant funding of the administrative budget, Episcopal Charities is able to directly allocate 100% of funds raised from the public for program activities. - Essential Job Functions: The Development Associate is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in the overall execution of the Development activities of the organization and for administrative functions/responsibilities.
- Marjor Gift Program: coordinate board-member participation in gift solicitation, analysis of giving patterns and enhancement of donor database
- Fund Raising Events and Activities: coordinate planning, marketing and logistics for all events; including an annual tribute dinner, theatre benefit and donor cultivation events
- Foundation proposals: research prospective foundation grantees, assist with proposal development and follow-up
- Board Support: coordinate Board and committe meetings and activities; provide staff support for the Development, Dinner Planning, and Communications & PR committees
- Direct Mail Campaigns: coordinateall activities including design and printing, list development, mailing, tracking responses, tax letters and funds deposits
- Contact Database: manage and maintain online database of donors and prospects
- Administration: work with finance team on deposits and organizational duties as required
- Volunteer Oversight: manage two part-time volunteers
- Requirements:
- Five years business development/fund raising or relevant administrative experience in a corporate or non-profit environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage time on multiple projects and work well under pressure
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Team player, with the ability to work independently; self starter
- Event or meeting planning experience
- Extensive knowledge of databases
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Bachelors degree
- This position reports to the Executive Director of Episcopal Charities. The salary is competitive.
