Learn more about EC
EC provides critical funding, operational, and volunteer support to approximately 100 charitable organizations in NYC and the Hudson Valley.
-
Almost half of our partner programs directly address hunger and food provision, including providing fresh foods directly to food pantries and emergency food relief programs.
-
More than a third of our partner programs provide services to and support for formerly incarcerated individuals and their families, undocumented immigrants and other displaced persons.
-
We also have a rich history of supporting partner programs engaged in youth enrichment, education and skill-building initiatives.
-
In addition to grant support, we incubate new programs that respond to acute need where no similar programs exist and where we are able to multiply impact. You can learn about two examples, Farm to Pantry and Bulk Buy, via our program videos.
OUR MISSION
Episcopal Charities provides critical funding, operational support, and volunteers to strengthen nearly 100 local programs working to transform the lives of more than 1 million people in need each year.
Working in partnership with these programs, we help connect those in need with the generosity of caring donors and the energy of dedicated volunteers.
-
We fight hunger through food pantries and community kitchens;
-
We strengthen communities through skills-building programs that offer a path to success for the unemployed, recent immigrants, and the formerly incarcerated re-entering society;
-
We protect the most vulnerable through health and wellness programs that improve quality of life for senior citizens, the homebound, children with special needs, and recovering substance abusers;
-
We create opportunities for the next generation through children’s arts, academic enrichment, and summer recreation programs.
In the true spirit of outreach, every program we support is free of religious content, welcoming one and all. We serve communities throughout the ten-county Episcopal Diocese of New York: Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Sullivan, Orange and Ulster.
