Episcopal Charities Sunday
NOW, MORE THAN EVER
Episcopal Charities Sunday is September 20, 2020.
You might be aware that we normally ask for your support of our feeding programs when we celebrate Episcopal Charities Sunday on Mother's Day each year. But as we're all aware, 2020 is anything but normal.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant increase in food insecurity across the diocese. With the closure of businesses at the outset of the pandemic, our feeding programs have reported large increases in the number of people seeking food support -- as much as a 350% increase at one program. Food insecurity is a problem even in normal times for the working poor and undocumented in our communities. The pandemic has only expanded the number of individuals and families struggling to feed themselves.
That's why our community -- people and programs alike -- need our help now, more than ever.
Here's how you can help:
If you're a rector or parish administrator, click here to download our Episcopal Charities Sunday toolkit. You'll find a brief video from our Board President, Peter Keller, that can be played during your virtual service, as well as a blurb for your weekly newsletter or website.
If you're a parishioner or individual, you can donate using the button below or mail a check to us at the address at the bottom of this page. If you donate, be sure to note your parish (if applicable) in the notes field! You can also ask your rector how your parish plans to participate in this diocese-wide event!
However you get involved, know that 100% of your gift will fund feeding programs throughout the diocese, providing those most affected by COVID-19 with a nutritious meal.
